Earth Gacha Terms of Use
Welcome to Earth Gacha (earthgacha.online, “the site”). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
1. The service
The site is a free browser game: it draws random cards from public wildlife observation records on GBIF, lets you build a collection and compete in a ranking. The site sells nothing and has no paid draws. Cards can’t be traded and have no cash value.
2. Accounts
- You can use the site without an account. Creating one requires an email address, a password and a nickname.
- Keep your password safe. Anything done with your account is treated as done by you.
- Your nickname is shown publicly in the ranking. Don’t use nicknames that are offensive, impersonate someone or contain personal contact details; we may change or remove them.
3. Conduct
When using the site, you must not:
- forge, tamper with or bulk-submit pack data, or otherwise undermine the fairness of the ranking;
- use automated tools to make large numbers of requests to the site or the third-party services it uses (GBIF, iNaturalist and others);
- attack, disrupt or try to gain unauthorized access to the site’s servers or data;
- use the site for anything illegal.
Accounts that break these rules may be suspended and their ranking results removed.
4. Rights to photos, names and data
- Photos on cards belong to their photographers and are shown under the license each one chose (for example CC BY-NC 4.0). Every card credits the photographer, shows the license and links to the original record. If you want to use a photo, follow its license.
- Observation data comes from GBIF and its data publishers; species names come from iNaturalist and GBIF.
- If you took a photo and no longer want it to appear on the site, change or withdraw the observation on the original platform. Once GBIF updates, it can no longer be drawn.
- The site’s design, text and code belong to the site.
5. Ads
The site shows ads through Google AdSense, including rewarded video ads that you choose to watch. Ads are served by Google and the site isn’t responsible for their content. 90% of ad revenue is donated to iNaturalist; the rest covers running costs. For how ads use cookies, see the privacy policy.
6. Accuracy of data
Species names, record counts, distributions and rarity on the site all come from third-party data. They change as that data is updated and may contain misidentifications. The site is for entertainment and education only and must not be relied on for research, medical decisions, foraging (for example deciding whether a mushroom is edible) or any safety decision.
7. Availability
The site is provided “as is”, with no guarantee that it will always be available, error-free or that data won’t be lost. When third-party services (GBIF, iNaturalist, Supabase and others) are down, some features may not work. We may change, suspend or discontinue all or part of the site at any time, including pack rules and how rarity is calculated. To the extent the law allows, the site is not liable for any loss arising from using or being unable to use it.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms and will show the date of the update on this page. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new terms.
